In a surprising turn of events, Motorola released Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto Z, but only Verizon customers were able to download it. That’s because for some reason Motorola has decided that the carrier-branded Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force should be the first to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The unlocked version of the Moto Z was launched in the United States a few months later, which is probably one of the reasons the smartphone wasn’t updated at the same time with the Verizon-branded units.
Moreover, the unlocked Moto Z units in Europe and other regions have started to receive the update since last month, but not in the United States.
Well, it appears that Motorola has finally kicked off the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the unlocked Moto Z smartphones in the United States.
