The release of Apple Silicon has convinced many large tech companies that it’s time to invest in custom chips, and Samsung is one of the giants that are in a position allowing it to follow in the footsteps of its rival quite easily.
Samsung’s Exynos chip, which is already used on smartphones, will make the switch to the PC world as soon as this year, according to a recent report, as the South Koreans are looking to offer a rapid response to Apple’s M1 processor.
Built on a 5-nanometer platform, the new Exynos chip for laptops will be developed together with AMD for improved graphical performance, with one source telling The Korea Economic Daily that the company is expecting “extraordinary computer power and battery efficiency.”
