Samsung Throws in a Super-Cheap Case for the $1,000 Galaxy Note 8
Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy Note 8 later this month, and it looks like the company is once again favoring some markets, detrimental to others that won’t get the same powerful specs and accessories.
A new report reveals that Samsung plans to sell the Galaxy Note 8 with a free transparent plastic case in the box, but only in a number of markets, including Korea. ETNews writes that customers in Europe, Russia, and the United States won’t get the case, though they will be allowed to purchase it separately for as low as $17.
Offering a cheap plastic $17 case for a device that is expected to cost more than $1,000 is an approach that certainly makes some people raise an eyebrow, especially because this case won’t be available in all markets, but on the other hand, it’s probably a good way to help customers protect their smartphones right after opening the box for the very first time.
