Samsung Says Android Oreo Comes to Unlocked Galaxy S8, Note 8 Phones This April

Samsung informed Galaxy S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 users over the weekend about the long-anticipated Android 8 Oreo software update, saying that it’s finally coming withing the next three weeks for all unlocked devices.

While many Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 owners on the Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon mobile networks in the United States and other parts of the world have already received the Android 8.0 Oreo software update, customers that bought a carrier-unlocked device have to wait a little longer for Google’s latest Android Oreo operating system.

“We understand that many of you have Unlocked Galaxy S8/+ and Note 8 devices and may be wondering why those with Carrier models are seeing the updates first. The reason for this is that Unlocked devices must go through more rigorous testing than Carrier-specific devices because we need to make sure there is proper network functionality across ALL supported networks,” said Samsung.
