One of the biggest issues with Samsung’s Android devices was the limited OS upgrades that the company offered, as smartphones and tablets only receive two major Android releases after which all they got was security patches.
Samsung confirmed at its Unpacked event earlier this month that the policy would be upgraded to 3 different Android updates, and now the company provides a closer look at the whole thing in a new announcement.
More specifically, Samsung says that only a few devices would be getting three years of Android upgrades, and all of them are part of the Galaxy lineups, both on phones and tablets.
Who’s getting the upgrades and who doesn’t?
Here are the devices getting three years of Android upgrades, according to Samsung:
- Galaxy S series: Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, S20 Ultra, S20+ 5G, S20+, S20 5G, S20 in addition to S10 5G, S10+, S10, S10e, S10 Lite and upcoming S series devices
