New data confirms that Samsung is once again the world’s leading phone maker after a solid performance in the first quarter of the year.
The South Korean company shipped a total of 77 million units in Q1, enough to secure the leading position in the global phone market. This means Samsung controls a 23 percent market share, with Strategy Analytics telling Yonhap news agency that the Galaxy S21 series and the affordable A series are the devices currently spearheading the sales.
Unsurprisingly, Apple is the company taking the runner-up spot, this time with sales of 57 million units. In other words, Apple now has a market share of 17 percent.
Samsung’s foldable push
While the two models mentioned above are the ones currently bringing home the bacon, Samsung is also betting big on foldables, and the company wants this form factor to also benefit from stronger adoption in the short term.
