The unveiling of the Galaxy S8 is important for Samsung, as it would be the first flagship phone that the company announces since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Samsung wishes the S8 to catch the attention of the market, which is why it will release a 6GB of RAM variant.
Before the Galaxy Note 7 was released last year, there were rumors that a 6GB of RAM variant would be made available in China. The Note 7 was later launched, but the powerful variant never saw the light of day.
It’s unclear if Samsung indeed had plans to make such a model available to Chinese customers, but it would make sense, since the market is much more competitive than in other corners of the world and consumers there are used to seeing phones with 6GB of RAM offered by local manufacturers.
