Huawei’s head of P series, Lao Shi took to one of China’s biggest social networks, Weibo to state his opinion on RAM capacity in today’s smartphones. The official believes that 4GB of RAM in a phone is enough.
Huawei’s official explained that 4GB of RAM in a smartphone is more than enough for it to run smoothly, while adding that in-house tests have proven that Huawei’s devices powered by Kirin 960 and 4GB of RAM/128GB of storage performed better over longer periods of time compared to similar smartphones with 6GB of RAM.
Shi added that overall user experience doesn’t depend on the amount of RAM, but it’s more directly related to the quality of software, most importantly of software optimizations. He went on to mention iOS as a good example of contemporary mobile operating system that doesn’t need lots of RAM to function without issues.
