Google Adds New Maps Feature for Sharing Your Real-Time Location and ETA
Today, Google announced a new feature that will be coming to its Maps application on Android, iOS and the desktop version. The new feature will allow users to share their real-time locations with friends and family.
In order to share your location, you simply need to open the side menu or tap the blue dot that pin-points your current location in Google Maps. Then, you need to tap on the “Share location” option and select the people that you would like to receive information of your whereabouts.
You can send your location to Google contacts, or share a link on messenger applications installed on your phone. When a location is shared, receivers will be able to view your exact location on the map. There’s also an icon above the compass, reminding you that the location was shared. In order to avoid any privacy issues, you can stop sharing your location at any time.
